This week's LNS challenge is to design an item around the colors of your favorite candy bar. One of my all time favorites is Ghirardelli's Limited Edition - a milk chocolate base with a top coat of white chocolate and bits of candy cane's. Hershey Kisses makes a similar except it is all white chocolate. Still delicious! And if I am lucky, I find a couple of packages right after the holiday's to tide me over till the next batch comes out! Here's my card -
I realized I didn't have any Brushed Gold cardstock (#102935) so I took a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock (#100730) and daubed Champagne Mist Glimmer Paint (#116806) all over it. Set that aside to dry.I used stamps from 5 different sets - Holly leaves from Good Cheer (#115326), snow swirl from Season of Joy (#110384), inside phrase from Many Merry Messages (#107121) from the IBC. The snowman is Simple Seasonal Thanks (#111548) with the words masked and the snowflakes are from Serene Snowflakes (#115438); all from the Holiday Mini.
The top of his cap and scarf are paper-pieced using the real red flocked designer paper Christmas Cocoa Specialty (#116770) from the Holiday Mini as well.
The snow swirl is a mixture of Frost White Shimmer Paint (#116854) and Night of Navy reinker (#103033). This daubed on lightly to the stamp and then stamped off the snowman. The brim of his cap is using the same format except Real Red reinker (#103287) was used. I put three coats, letting them dry in between applications, to get the texture I wanted. Looks like a shimmer fur edge to it which goes along with the flocking on his cap and scarf.
The Holly leaves are cut and glued to the snowman. It was a bit tedious cutting these out but so well worth it. The leave tips are pointy like actual holly leaves! The berries were painted with the Real Red Shimmer paint mixture.
To finish him up, I added 3 Chocolate buttons from the Button Latte (#114333) Designer Button set. Goes perfect with the bit of chocolate on the wrapper as well as the theme of this challenge!
I love doing the inside of cards too -
Again using Whisper White, I stamped snowflakes using the Champagne Mist Glimmer Paint. To even out the color scheme, I punched out a snowflake using the Snowflake Punch (#116628) from a scrap of Handsome Hunter cardstock (#105122). Daubed a bit of Shimmer Mist Paint on it. To finish it off, I took a Clear Brad (#113144) apart and glue dotted it to the center.Isn't he cute? I loved making this card. Go ahead and pull out your favorite candy bar and play long. After all is completed, you can treat yourself to the candy!
