Giving Thanks

If you haven't guessed by now, I like to do off-the-wall things with my cards. Nothing is safe when I am on a roll! Sandi MacIver made some wonderful cards yesterday using her scraps. She inspired me to dig into my bag - my daughter, Kathleen, did too when she was making pumpkins on her lunch break.

Aren't these leaves shimmery? No I didn't use the new Shimmer Paints. The are actually cut out using the Big Shot die Leaves #2 (113459) and the liner to one of my favorite cereals! Remember - nothing is safe from me! After cutting them out, I inked them using sponge daubers. The colors are Dusty Durango, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry and a bit of Always Artichoke. Set aside to dry and then dry emboss the veins. I like that I can mold them to look like real leaves.

Now this one was fun! Can you guess what that floaty thing is? It's a Haystack! I used a 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon (109025), got out my Frost White Shimmer Paint (116854) and my Creamy Caramel reinker (101478). Playing "mad scientist" again, I mixed the shimmer paint with a couple of drops of Creamy Caramel ink. Using my Stamping Sponge (101610), I rubbed this mixture into my ribbon. Set it aside to dry. Once dry, I pulled the thread to unravel the ribbon 3/4's of the way down. This technique was presented by Gretchen Barron about a year ago. There you have a haystack!
It's pretty cool - waves around on the card and shimmers. I know, I amuse easily. LOL.
