New Year Changes

Sorry but I do not have a craft item to share with you today. Instead I want to share something that is near and dear to my heart. Some of my readers know that I am involved in rescuing dogs, rehabilitating them and placing them in forever homes. Every month is heartbreaking but November and December are the hardest for me. To sum it up in simple words, mass murdering occurs across our "civilized" nation because shelters "clean out" for days they will be closed. Shelter workers are not to be blamed; look to your city/town leaders and the "humans" who consider animal's lives as trivial participants in theirs.

Yes, I am madder than a wet hen - from the family who could afford a European vacation for Christmas but consigned their aged dog to a gassing shelter because they were inconvenienced to the people who threw their dog from a moving car because they no longer "wanted" it. Yes ... we humans are truly civilized.

Right about now, I am sure some readers are saying, "I don't want to hear about this. It's too upsetting." Yes it is extremely upsetting but the only way it will change is for humans to speak out against the atrocities, get involved and make changes for these aberration's to cease. All is takes is a moment from your life -

To the men and women who took one moment from their busy days to make a difference, I thank you and applaud you. The following video will show you how a moment can make a huge difference. Stanley will now be able to live the life he, like so many others, should have. To the thousands who lost their lives, I am truly sorry humanity cost you your life. Rest in peace.

For anyone reading this, I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year. Thank you for your continued support and business. I'll be back the first of 2010 with new creations and great new offers and products.

What a remarkable turn of events for Stanley! I'm so happy for him and grateful for people like you. As a guardian of 2 "rescues" my life would be totally different! All the best to you in 2010!

You know that I know just what you are talking about Hon! We have talked on the phone before. I am a fellow rescue person. WAY too many dogs and cats are put to death every single day simply because people are irresponsible and simply don't care! Not "all" people of course, but there are WAY too many of the ones that don't care!

I too am a rescuer and the love you get from these animals is incredible! Animals are not disposable and we need to change the way we as a society view them. Thanks for all you do Karen!

Oh my gosh! I am bawling~ bless his little heart - I'm so glad they saved him and can't wait for you to put the Part 2 up on your blog: I'm checking now to see if I get your updates. If not, hope there's something here to get them. I must hear about Stanley's new life, after he has gotten medical treatment. Normally, when that commercial comes on TV about saving animals, I have to turn it off - it's such a "tear jerker" and I've already saved 3 kitties and they love their new home; and are so spoiled. Before that I saved a puppy dog on the highway and she was my BEST FRIEND (how can anyone turn away from animals - they give so much more back to us just for saving them. I can go back further and continue with my story, but I won't. But must tell a story about our town.

The sheriff put on TV all the dogs and cats in trash cans that they had urthenized - and pleaded for everyone to go and save these animals since the shelter was still overloaded. When we had a breakfast at the church, I was giving out prizes. A friend had donated 2 new collars and leashes for 2 big dogs. So to give this out, I asked them how many remember seeing this on TV - and how many rescued one of those animals. Out of over 400 women at this breakfast, over half raised their hand - everyone started clapping as I thanked them for rescuing these animals. It still gets me teary eyed each time I think of it. So there are more people out there trying to help than we now. I was shocked that that many had saved one of the animals that were to be put to sleep at the shelter. PTL~ just crying - must end for now. Thanks for sharing - and I do hope you put Part 2 on here for us. Thanks,
